Hi! My name is Gloria…and I love to eat.
I grew up in a family of four sisters, or mermaids as we liked to call ourselves (my Dad is a very patient man), in which food has always been a topic of passion. At any given meal, a discussion would inevitably ensue surrounding the next repast – would we have the lion’s head meatballs the size of my eight-year old fist, or a hot pot if it was a wintery cold night, an all-American summer cookout of grilled steak with my Mom’s fantastic potato salad with Oscar Mayer ham, or dine out at my favorite old-school seafood restaurant Delaney’s in Anaheim, California where my early years were spent.
Many of those wonderful meals would take event right in our modest home dining room, whether it was Mom making dumplings or testing her hand at some American dish of say chicken mushroom casserole (with Campbell’s cream of mushroom of course), or my Dad preparing a steak Diane or trying his hand at some decadent recipe from the dog-eared pages of his Larousse Gastronomique cookbook.
Delaney’s may have closed, and Dad may not experiment with as many classical French recipes these days, but not much has changed when my family gets together. We still plan that fabulous dinner hours away even if we are still finishing the last drops of our lunch of noodle soup.
This blog has been created to share my love for past, present, and future edible experiences with family, friends, new friends with similar love affairs with food, and for myself (because I have an awful memory!!). I hope to take you with me on my adventures in cooking, entertaining, and dining (tagging on a few other fun topics I am passionate about as well!).
Thanks for visiting and hope you stay awhile!
